Default A concern about guild invites and gambling

The /roll command was removed from towns to prevent "casino's". With the guild invite's as a guest it is now possible to invite someone to your guild hall to gamble. The /roll command works in your guild hall.

So you can advertise about an off shore casino, pay 100 gold; have someone come visit your guild hall, gamble away, and leave. If they are dishonest you get kicked without payout. If they are honest they will set up a house advantage.

Hey that's a pretty cool idea!

SOT - Anyone out there without a guild notice if the fee has done anything to cut down on all those annoying random invites?

Hahah, Pachinko rocks

Yah, there are casinos everywhere...

So why not Tyria?

My guild still does a lottery every week in Kal Online. We get something like 300 entries every time, and we don't keep anything, we pay out as much as we get...

Haven't you seen any James Bond movies? They were not all just exotic locations in the US and they were not fictional places either . There are plenty of casinos in Europe and all the continents.

And, no, the casino idea is completely irrelevant to an RPG like Guild Wars.

I know while I was in the Navy, when on the Carribean Islands (Curacao, Barbados, etc)... most of them have casinos also.

That feeds along the lines of the Guild Hall Casino

People have been gambling since time immemorial. Why is gambling irrelevant to the world of Tyria? If people want to put some gold on the line to have a little fun, let them.

Hello??? Are we forgetting that gold won gambling in Guild Wars (or really any MMORPG) can be transformed via various methods/websites to real life money? This creates the ability to gamble with real money online, which brings on a whole slew of online gambling legal gray areas that I doubt ArenaNet is set up to deal with: http://www.the-surfs-up.com/news/gam...nlinenews.html

why not make a GWG gambling game. some one is designated as the set person to invite then they just do it that way.

healthy and safe (as healthy as gambling can get that is).

i believe that doing this is against the EULA.

also because it is not directly gambling with real money, it does not need to go under any real laws i think.
